BCIhub: A Tutorial Repository by the BCI Society

Brain-computer interface research draws on neuroscience, signal processing, machine learning, hardware, clinical practice, and human-computer interaction. That breadth makes the field productive, but it also makes entry difficult: a tutorial that assumes fluency in one discipline can be inaccessible to a student arriving from another.
As a member of the BCI Society’s Postdoc & Student Committee, I worked on tutorials for the BCI Meeting, the BCI Society’s international conference, and began organizing the material into a reusable repository. The goal was to make methods taught at the meeting available beyond a single live session, with notebooks that expose the intermediate steps behind an analysis instead of presenting only final results.
The initial tutorial focuses on machine learning for BCI data in a notebook format. It is intended to be read, modified, and rerun, allowing learners to inspect how preprocessing choices, features, models, and evaluation procedures affect a result. This is particularly important in BCI, where small datasets and subject-to-subject variation can make an apparently strong classifier difficult to interpret.
BCIhub remains an educational effort rather than a complete curriculum. Its direction is to complement papers and recorded talks with practical, inspectable materials contributed by researchers across the community. The tutorial repository contains the current notebook, and the BCI Society provides information about the meeting and its broader education and early-career activities.
